Luke’s Inn Pig Program

more than a pig farm

At Luke’s Inn Recovery Center, it is our passion to ensure that every one of our residents is seen and has access to food, freedom, and forgiveness. For holistic transformation to occur, we put systems in place to come alongside our residents in Job Training (food), Substance Abuse Recovery (freedom), and Discipleship (forgiveness). More than a way to keep funding our recovery program, our pig farm serves as an opportunity for job training, as well as a source for locally raised, fair-priced meat.

When the crisis of 2018 hit, it hit this program hard. We had to sell off most of our assets to keep our workers employed. This was devastating for our team as we had spent the past two years learning our way around the business of rearing pigs, and had finally landed on a business model that is profitable and sustainable.

With full-confidence in this program’s local profitability, and with the current capacity for 30 pigs, we are determined to re-launch this program Summer of 2019. All we need are some new piglets to start us up.
